Five daughters. Imagine that. Gone in one go.

I come from a family of Five Sisters and the bonds we have are unbreakable. We're together through thick and thin. Some of the happiest and memorable moments I have spent were with my Sisters.

In the on-going Israeli massacre of Gaza, among hundreds that were killed and are still being killed was the story of a family which lost five daughters.

Washington Post reports:

JERUSALEM, Dec. 29 -- Trapped in the rubble, Iman Balousha, dressed in her green pajamas, said she could hear her sisters' cries. "Mother! Mother! Where is my mother? Pull me out!" Their muffled voices slipped through the toppled bricks.

Early Monday, an Israeli airstrike on the Jabalya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip destroyed the family's house, located next to the Emad Aqeel mosque, the intended target, which was also flattened. Rescuers tried frantically to save the girls. Iman was lucky: She was half-buried in the debris.

One by one, the cries stopped, Iman recalled in an interview. She could see the leg of her 4-year-old sister, Jawaher, whom her family called Ayah. She could touch her hair. But minutes later, Ayah stopped breathing.

"I've lost five sisters," Iman, 16, said at a relative's house Monday evening, her soft voice fading. Tears slid down her face. Her mother, Samira, held her 16-month-old son, whose face was bruised and specked with dried blood.

"Does my 12-days-old baby have a rocket with her?" Samira demanded. "Or my son, does he have a missile with him? Or did my daughters have AK-47s beside them? Why did they target them?" The five daughters who died were ages 4 to 17.

What really hurts is that they were aged from four to seventeen. Children and teenagers. These are the ones being killed in this inhumane War.

How can anyone justify this?

Samira Balousha carries her surving child, Mohamad while crying over the body of her daughter, Jawahar, during the funeral.

Mourners carry the bodies of the five members of the Balousha family killed in the air strike.

A mourner lifts the body of four-year-old Dina Balousha, one of five members of the same family - including three children and two teenagers - killed in an Israeli missile strike.

May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala accept them as martyrs and give them patience. Ameen.

Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,

I know I haven't blogged for a while. I went through one of my phases where I lost the inclination to write/blog here. But I'm back, I guess. I might just change the layout completely.

There were so many things that I wanted to blog about initially, Muntadar Al-Zaidis shoe-throwing incident, The Mumbai attacks, The War Of Terror and other things.

Is it just me, or our current World situation just keeps on getting worse?

The Gaza attacks were the last straw. It is absolute indiscriminate killing. It's sickening. Open random bombs dropped on civilians. The blockade which resulted in people dying. What is more shocking is the case of our current so-called 'Muslim' leaders today of our nations. They are silent, probably calling for another 'meeting' and doing nothing. Absolutely nothing to help the Muslim Ummah. Weak, pathetic and cowardly. They're happy as long as they don't upset the superpowers of this World: USA & Israel. Sickening, isn't it?

The death toll that I checked last night for Gaza was around 300, and I'm sure it must've increased by today. My heart bleeds for Gaza, for the Palestinians, The Iraqis, The Afghanis, for the Prisoners in Gitmo and Afghanistan and the Somalis. For the Women who are raped, the Children that are killed, the Men who are tortured. For all those who suffer. And yet, all we do is, protest. And protest. And protest. After a while, our voices die down and no action is taken.

The genocide goes on. We need more then to just voice our anger, our thoughts. We need a constant voice, we need action, we need to make sure our voices don't die down again. We need to unite.

Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,

This has been all over the news. It is so sad and pathetic at the same time and highly angering. Why do they think they can attack and kill and raid any Country they want? Why are we not doing more then protesting this?

And like always, the victims are innocent civilians, including Women and Children.

You can read more about it here:

Here is a video by Al-Jazeera covering the Syria raid:

I wonder if President Bush ever feels remorse for all the innocent Women, Children and Men he has killed in thousands till date. If the United States thinks these type of raids will cut down on foreign fighters and military activity, they are wrong. Raids like these will do nothing but anger the people and increase resistance against the United States. I have no doubt, at least one or two of the relatives of the killed, if not more, from children to older Men will have thoughts about training as fighters for Jihad against the United States and entering into Iraq.

How can you attack a nation, and expect no resistance? On the other hand, the Muslim/Arab World should take a much harsher stand officially against raids and attacks like these. 9/11 took place on American Soil, and Bush wiped out two full Countries leaving them as new-born babies. However, this is too much of an idealistic wish if I say so myself. Our leaders are so involved and dependent on the West, that they cannot do anything except watch as their people are ruthlessly slaughtered.

Allahul Musta'an.

May Allah azza wa jal give sabr to the relatives of the deceased and may he bring from among us leaders who are good for us and may those who oppress, taste their own oppression one day.

Ameen.

Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,

In this sensational new lecture, Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki talks about how the Kuffar plan against the Muslims, their hidden agenda and the battle for the Hearts and Minds in Muslim Lands.

May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala protect the Imam and reward him for speaking the truth.

May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala give victory to the Mujahideen.

Farhia Yahya

Promises may be broken, locked up we may be and indeed the Ummah may be surrounded from all sides, but the Word of Allaah has already gone forth.

One by one our scholars may be silenced, our children muted and our Islamic heritage eliminated, but the Word of Allaah has already gone forth.

The Ahzaab may reform, treachery may reappear and the mountains may shake but the Word of Allaah has already gone forth.

Certainty is something that this Ummah will never lose and can never lose.

It is inseparable from our Imaan to the extent that the scholars, when defining the Shahaadah (testimony) listed it to be from its prime conditions.

As we look around the world today, we are in great need of our yaqeen - our conviction and certainty in the fact that the Word of Allaah has already gone forth:

“And verily our Word has gone forth to our slaves, the Messengers

That they verily, will be triumphant

And that our hosts (the believers)! They indeed, will be victorious.”

[As-Saaffaat: 171-173]

When the tartars approached the Muslims in Damascus, the public went into mass panic and fear. But amongst them was the great scholar and mujahid Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) who returned courage to the people and to the central army by saying, “Allaah will grant us victory!” The generals asked him to say ‘Insha-Allaah’ for fear that his statement could fall short, but Ibn Taymiyyah replied back, “I say it in certainty and not in mere hope!”

As believers in Allaah we have to possess that certainty and conviction held by our pious predecessors and the righteous that followed them. We see that some of them would be overtaken by petrifying circumstances and many times they would be up against the worst, but this neither shook their Imaan in Allaah nor their yaqeen in His Nasr (Help).
Our eyes and ears may tell us one thing, but our yaqeen will always direct us to the true reality of affairs and the direction in which they are ultimately headed.

“And that our hosts (the believers)! They indeed, will be victorious.”

The Command of Allaah has already preceded and there is not a matter except that it is bound by the Sunan of Allaah. And likewise, Allaah has made it a Sunnah of His that His Jund -the true believers- will continue to be aided and be victorious until the end of time. Nations rise and fall as a result of this firmly established principle of Allaah, which we fail to take lessons from time and time again.

All of creation and indeed this whole universe run only at the Command of Allaah and when Allaah decrees victory, there is nothing in the heavens or in the earth that has the power to stop it. In fact, the universe itself and all that is in it, is subjected to deliver the victory to the victors - the true believers. And indeed, whoever obeys Allaah and strives therein will have the dunya subjected to him, and it will come to him in haste.

The honoured companions of the Messenger (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) only knew this too well. Their absolute trust, certainty, obedience and unshakeable belief saw them through ghastly battles with which they were at extreme odds with. One would expect a crushing defeat but the outcome was always a clear victory. And how can it not be so when Allaah has declared,

و كان حقا علينا نصر المؤمنين

And it was incumbent upon Us to help the believers

[Ar-Room: 47]

The sun halted at the Command of its Lord in order to deliver victory to the Army of Yusha’ ibn Nun - the Prophet of Bani Israel after Musa (`alayhumasalaam). It is mentioned in Sahih Muslim that when he drew closer to the town and prayed ‘Asr, he looked at the sun which was about to set and he cried out, “You are commanded, and I have been commanded! O Allaah, halt it and withhold it.” So it was halted (from setting) until he was granted victory. [1]

We also have the likes of al-Baraa’ ibn Maalik whose oaths were always fulfilled by Allaah. In the heat of battle, the Muslims would cry out, ‘O Baraa! Make an oath by your Lord!’ So he would say, ‘O my Lord! I take an oath by You that you give us victory!’ And the enemy would be utterly defeated. This was seen on the day of Tustar when al-Baraa ibn Maalik called out, “O my Lord! I take an oath by You that you confer victory upon us and you make me the first martyr!” The final outcome? A swift victory and martyrdom for al-Baraa ibn Maalik (radhi Allaahu ‘anhu).[2]

And Saariyah did not hear wrong when he heard what he heard…

As ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (radhi Allaahu ‘anhu) was giving his khutbah, he suddenly said, “Ya Saariyah, the mountain! Ya Saariyah, the mountain!”

Saariyah was a mujaahid appointed by ‘Umar as the leader of the Muslim army. The army had already been sent out and between them and ‘Umar was the distance of one month’s journey.
A month later, a bringer of glad tidings returned from that Muslim army saying that they had almost been defeated when they heard a voice proclaiming ‘O Saariyah, the mountain! O Saariyah, the mountain! So they put their backs to the mountain and Allaah defeated the enemy. [3]

And numerous are the miraculous scenes in the field of Jihaad. So no doubt victory will arrive, but victory has its victors - those who are guided by the light of certainty and Imaan and it is they who will carry the word of Allaah which has already gone forth.

The final outcome will always be for the Deen of Allaah, and none are given to inherit the earth except the righteous, believing servants of Allaah.

“Allaah has decreed: Verily, it is I and My Messengers who shall be the victorious”

[Al-Mujaadilah: 21]

And never can there be a change in the Sunnah of Allaah. We ask Allaah to give us yaqeen and thabaat (firmness).

[May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala grant him success in the hereafter and make more people in our Ummah like him. May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala help the Mujahideen. Ameen.]

Dr. Sheikh Abdullah Yusuf Azzam, Palestinian.

Assassinated on 24 November 1989 in Peshawar, Pakistan, Aged 48. 1st Hand Accounts.

Time Magazine wrote about him that 'he was the reviver of Jihad in the 20th Century'. Abdullah Yusuf Azzam was born in the village of Ass-ba'ah Al-Hartiyeh, province of Jineen in the occupied sacred land of Palestine in 1941 CE. He was brought up in a humble house where he was taught Islam, and was fed with the love of Allah, His Messenger (SAW), those striving in the Way of Allah, the righteous people and the desire for the Hereafter.

Abdullah Azzam was a distinguished kid who started propagating Islam at an early age. His peers knew him as a pious child. He showed signs of excellence at an early age. His teachers recognized this while he was still at elementary school.

Sheikh Abdullah Azzam was known for his perseverance and serious nature ever since he was a small boy. He received his early elementary and secondary education in his village, and continued his education at the agricultural Khadorri College where he obtained a Diploma. Although he was the youngest of his colleagues, he was the cleverest and the smartest. After he graduated from Khadorri College, he worked as a teacher in a village called Adder in South Jordan.

Later he joined Sharia College in Damascus University where he obtained a B.A. Degree in Shariah (Islamic Law) in 1966. After the Jews captured the West Bank in 1967, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam decided to migrate to Jordan, because he could not live under the Jews' occupation of Palestine. The sin of the Israeli tanks rolling into the West Bank without any resistance made him even more determined to migrate in order to learn the skills necessary to fight.

In the late 1960's he joined the Jihad against the Israeli occupation of Palestine from Jordan.
Soon after that, he went to Egypt and graduated with a Masters Degree in Shariah from the University of Al-Azhar. In 1970 and after Jihad came to a halt by forcing PLO forces out of Jordan, he assumed the position of teaching in the Jordanian University in Amman. In 1971 he
was awarded a scholarship to Al-Azhar University in Cairo from which he obtained a Ph.D Degree in Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usool-ul-Fiqh) in 1973. During his stay in Egypt he came to know the family of Shaheed Sayyed Qutb.

Sheikh Abdullah Azzam spent a long time participating in the Jihad in Palestine. However, matters there were not to his liking, for the people involved in the Jihad were far removed from Islam.

He told of how these people used to spend the nights playing cards and listening to music, under the illusion that they were performing Jihad to liberate Palestine. Sheikh Abdullah Azzam mentioned that, out of the thousands in the camp he was in, the number of people who offered their Salah in congregation were so few that they could be counted on one hand. He tried to steer them towards Islam, but they resisted his attempts.

One day he rhetorically asked one of the 'Mujahideen' what the religion behind the Palestinian revolution was, to which the man replied, quite clearly and bluntly,
"This revolution has no religion behind it."

This was the last straw. Sheikh Abdullah Azzam left Palestine, and went to Saudi Arabia to teach in the universities there.

When Sheikh Azzam realised that only by means of an organised force would the Ummah ever be able to gain victory, then Jihad and the Gun became his pre-occupation and recreation.

"Jihad and the rifle alone: no negotiations, no conferences and no dialogues,"

he would say. By practising what he was preaching, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam was one of the first Arabs to join the Afghan Jihad against the communist USSR.

In 1979, when he learned about the Afghan Jihad, he left his teaching position at King Abdul-Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and went to Islamabad, Pakistan, in order to be able to participate in the Jihad. He moved to Pakistan to be close to the Afghan Jihad, and there he got to know the leaders of the Jihad.

During the early time of his stay in Pakistan, he was appointed a lecturer in the International Islamic University in Islamabad. After a while he had to quit the University to devote his full time and energy to the Jihad in Afghanistan.

In the early 1980's, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam came to experience the Jihad in Afghanistan. In this Jihad he found satisfaction of his longing and untold love to fight in the Path of Allah, just as Allah's Messenger (SAW) once said, "One hour spent fighting in the Path of Allah is worth more than seventy years spent in praying at home." [Authentic, At-Tirmithi and Al-Hakem].

Inspired by this Hadith, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam immigrated with his family to Pakistan in order to be closer to the field of Jihad. Soon after, he then moved from Islamabad to Peshawar to be even closer to the field of Jihad and Martyrdom.

In Peshawar, Sheikh Abdullah Azzam founded the Bait-ul-Ansar (Mujahideen Services Bureau with the aim of offering all possible assistance to the Afghani Jihad and the Mujahideen through establishing and managing projects that supported the cause. The Bureau also received and trained volunteers pouring into Pakistan to participate in Jihad and allocating them to the front lines.

Unsurprisingly, this was not enough to satisfy Sheikh Azzam's burning desire for Jihad. That desire drove him finally to go to the front-line. On the battlefield, the Sheikh gracefully played his destined role in that generous epic of heroism.

In Afghanistan he hardly ever settled in one place. He travelled throughout the country, visiting most of its provinces and states such as Lujer, Qandahar, Hindukush Heights, the Valley of Binjistr, Kabul and Jalalabad. These travels allowed Sheikh Abdullah Azzam to witness first hand the heroic deeds of these ordinary people, who had sacrificed all that they possessed -including their own lives - for the Supremacy of the Deen of Islam.

In Peshawar, upon his return from these travels, Sheikh Azzam spoke about Jihad constantly.
He prayed to restore the Unity among the divided Mujahideen commanders; called upon those who had not yet joined the fighting to take up arms and to follow him to the front before it would be too late.

Abdullah Azzam was greatly influenced by the Jihad in Afghanistan and the Jihad was greatly influenced by him since he devoted his full time to its cause. He became the most prominent figure in the Afghani Jihad aside from the Afghan leaders. He spared no effort to promote the Afghan cause to the whole world, especially through the Muslim Ummah. He travelled all over the world, calling on Muslims to rally to the defence of their religion and lands. He wrote a number of books on Jihad, such as Join the Caravan and Defence of Muslim Lands.

Moreover, he himself participated bodily in the Afghan Jihad, despite the fact that he was in his forties. He traversed Afghanistan, from north to south, east to west, in snow, through the mountains, in heat and in cold, riding donkeys and on foot. Young men with him used to tire from such exertions, but not Sheikh Abdullah Azzam.

He changed the minds of Muslims about the Jihad in Afghanistan and presented the Jihad as an Islamic cause which concerned all Muslims around the world. Due to his efforts, the Afghani Jihad became universal in which Muslims from every part of the world participated. Soon, volunteer Islamic fighters began to travel to Afghanistan from the four corners of the Earth, to fulfil their obligation of Jihad and in defence of their oppressed Muslim brothers and sisters.

The Sheikh's life revolved around a single goal, namely the establishment of Allah's Rule on earth, this being the clear responsibility of each and every Muslim. So in order to accomplish his life's noble mission of restoring the Khilafah, the Sheikh focused on Jihad (the armed struggle to establish Islam). He believed Jihad must be carried out until the Khilafah (Islamic Rule) is established so the light of Islam may shine on the whole world.

Sheikh Abdullah Azzam made Jihad in every possible way, responding to the call of Allah:

"Go forth, light and heavy, and strive with your selves and your wealth in the path of Allah. That is better for you, if only you knew." [Quran, 9:41]

He reared his family also, in the same spirit, so that his wife, for example, engaged in orphan care and other humanitarian work in Afghanistan. He refused teaching positions at a number of universities, declaring that he would not quit Jihad until he was either martyred or assassinated.
He used to reiterate that his ultimate goal was still to liberate Palestine. He was once quoted as saying,

"Never shall I leave the Land of Jihad, except in three circumstances. Either I shall be killed in Afghanistan. Either I shall be killed in Peshawar. Or either I shall be handcuffed and expelled from Pakistan."

Jihad in Afghanistan had made Abdullah Azzam the main pillar of the Jihad movement in the modern times. Through taking part in this Jihad, and through promoting and clarifying the obstacles which have been erected in the path of Jihad, he played a significant role in changing the minds of Muslims about Jihad and the need for it. He was a role model for the young generation that responded to the call of Jihad. He had a great appreciation for Jihad and the need for it.

Once he said,

"I feel that I am nine years old: seven-and-a-half years in the Afghan Jihad, one-and-a-half years in the Jihad in Palestine, and the rest of the years have no value."

From his pulpit Sheikh Azzam was always reiterating his conviction that:

"Jihad must not be abandoned until Allah (SWT) Alone is worshipped. Jihad continues until Allah's Word is raised high. Jihad until all the oppressed peoples are freed. Jihad to protect our dignity and restore our occupied lands. Jihad is the way of everlasting glory."

History, as well as anyone who knew Sheikh Abdullah Azzam closely, all testify to his courage in speaking the truth, regardless of the consequences. He always bore in mind the command of Allah to:

"Proclaim openly that which you were commanded, and turn away from the polytheists( Mushrikeen)." [Quran, 15:94].

On every occasion Sheikh Abdullah Azzam reminded all Muslims that,

"Muslims cannot be defeated by others. We Muslims are not defeated by our enemies, but instead, we are defeated by our own selves."

He was a fine example of Islamic manners, in his piety, his devotion to Allah and his modesty in all things. He would never adulate in his relations with others. Sheikh Azzam always listened to the youth, he was dignified and did not allow fear to have access to his brave heart. He practised continual fasting especially the alternate daily fasting routine of Prophet Dawud (SAW).

He strongly counselled others to practice fasting on Mondays and Thursdays. The Sheikh was
a man of uprightness, honesty and virtue, and was never heard to slander others or to talk unpleasently about an individual Muslim.

As the Jihad in Afghanistan went on, he was succeeding in uniting together all the various fighting groups in the Afghani Jihad. Naturally, such a pride to Islam caused great distress to the enemies of this religion, and they plotted to eliminate him. In 1989 CE, a lethal amount of TNT explosive was placed beneath the pulpit from which he delivered the sermon every Friday. It was such a formidable quantity that if it had exploded, it would have destroyed the mosque, together with everything and everybody in it. Hundreds of Muslims would have been killed, but Allah provided protection and the bomb did not explode.

The enemies, determined to accomplish their ugly task, tried another plot in Peshawar, shortly after this in the same year When Allah (SWT) willed that Sheikh Abdullah Azzam should leave this world to be in His closest company (we hope that it is so), the Sheikh departed in a glorious manner. The day was Friday, 24 November 1989.

The enemies of Allah planted three bombs on a road so narrow only a single car could travel on it. It was the road Sheikh Abdullah Azzam would use to drive to the Friday Prayer. That Friday, the Sheikh, together with two of his own sons, Ibrahim and Muhammad, and with one of the sons of the late Sheikh Tameem Adnani (another hero of the Afghan Jihad), drove along the road.

The car stopped at the position of the first bomb, and the Sheikh alighted to walk the remainder of the way. The enemies, lying in wait, then exploded the bomb. A loud explosion and a great thundering were heard all over the city.

People emerged from the mosque, and beheld a terrible scene. Only a small fragment of the car remained. The young son Ibrahim flew 100 metres into the air; the other two youths were thrown a similar distance away, and their remains were scattered among the trees and power lines. As for Sheikh Abdullah Azzam himself, his body was found resting against a wall, totally intact and not at all disfigured, except that some blood was seen issuing from his mouth.

That fateful blast indeed ended the worldly journey of Sheikh Abdullah Azzam which had been spent well in struggling, striving and fighting in the Path of Allah (SWT). It also secured his more real and eternal life in the gardens of Paradise - we ask Allah that it is so -, that he will enjoy along with the illustrious company of

"those on whom is the Grace of Allah, the Prophets, the Sincere ones, the Martyrs
and the Righteous. The Best of company are they."
[Quran, 4:69].

It was in this way that this great hero and reformer of Islam departed from the arena of Jihad and from this world, never to return. He was buried in the Pabi Graveyard of the Shuhadaa' in Peshawar, where he joined hundreds of other Shuhadaa'. May Allah accept him as a martyr,
and grant him the highest station in Paradise. The struggle which he stood for continues, despite the enemies of Islam. There is not a Land of Jihad today in the world, nor a Mujahid fighting in Allah's Way, who is not inspired by the life, teachings and works of Sheikh Abdullah Azzam (May Allah have Mercy on him).

We ask Allah (SWT) to accept the deeds of Sheikh Abdullah Azzam and bring him to the Highest Part of Paradise. We ask Allah (SWT) to raise up for this Ummah more Sheikhs of this calibre, who take their knowledge to the battlefield rather than confining it in books.

With this article, we record the events of Islamic history which took place in the ten years from 1979 to 1989, and continue to happen. As Sheikh Abdullah Azzam himself once said,

"Indeed Islamic history is not written except with the blood of the Shuhadaa', except with the stories of the Shuhadaa' and except with the examples of the Shuhadaa.''

"They seek to extinguish the light of Allah by their mouths. But Allah refuses save to perfect His light, even if the disbelievers are averse. It is He who has sent His messenger with the guidance and the true religion, in order that He may make it prevail over all religions, even if the pagans are averse." [Quran, 9:32-33].

Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,

In the recent years we've seen more and more of our Brothers and Sisters imprisoned and put in Jail. Majority of them were innocent and those who were accused - were accused wrongly.

What is sad is - among these People, even our Scholars and People of knowledge are imprisoned and the World stays silent, including the Muslim World. The reason this is disastarous especially for the Muslim Ummah because knowledge of the deen is of extreme importance. It is incumbent upon Muslims to seek ilm. If the spreading of ilm stops and decreases, ignorance will be widespread.

The disappearance of Islamic knowledge is considered one of the signs of the coming of day of judgment. Although there is still knowledge present now alhamdulilah, it is decreasing among the people.

"Allah will not retract this knowledge by a withdrawal, [suddenly] withdrawing it from people's hearts, but He will retract knowledge by retracting the scholars, until, when He has left no scholar, people will take ignorant leaders, who will be asked, and will pronounce verdicts without knowledge, thus going astray and leading others astray." [Bukhari, Muslim]

Alot of our Ummah is suffering, in place like Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Chechyna, Bosnia and in other parts of the World. Especially in prisons like Guantanamo - famous for it's horrendous and inhumane activities.

A lot of our Brothers and Sisters in the West who dare to speak out against the Kuffar are targetted and sadly enough, even in 'Muslim Countries' the governments who've bowed down and been pressurised by the West go ahead and imprison their own People for speaking out.

I was very depressed when i'd heard that Brother Ali Al-Timimi had been unjustly sentenced to life in prison. Althought i'd never been physically present in any of his conferences or lectures, i would listen to them online.

Here is his last speech before leaving for prison:

May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala free him from the prisons of the oppressors. Ameen.
May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala give him the highest level in Paradise. Ameen.

Shaykh Ali Al timimi is/was not the only one put in prison. Imam Anwar Al Awlaki and others too were put under prison. And we've all heard of the Seventeen innocent men convicted for 'alleged' terrorist plots.

May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala free them and give their families sabr and unite them again. Ameen.

However this is not new. Muslims have been persecuted and put under test since the start of Islam, merely for proclaiming 'ašhadu 'an lā ilāha illā-llāh, wa 'ašhadu 'anna muħammadan rasūlu-llāh. In the past, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal and Imam Taymiyyah [to speak of but a few] were put in Jail. From the beginning of Islam, Sumayyah bint Khattab [who is considered the first female martyr] was tortured, Bilal ibn Rabah, the first Muazzin would be tortured by his Master just for being Muslim. Subhanallah, our people are imprisoned just because we believe in Allah subhanna wa ta'ala.

And they had no fault except that they believed in Allâh, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! (8)

Children as young as 15 are tortured and interrogated, not only in Guantanamo but in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan. And do we ever hear on the mainstream media about the torture tactics the Kuffar use or the inhumane treatment that is delivered to these People? No. But the Media will talk about the fifteen British soldiers who were released from Iran and label them as being heroic and will make it sound like Iran is a cruel and murderous country and their treatment was horrible and yet we see that the British soldiers came out unharmed. They were not tortured, raped, sodomised, put in little cells where you can barely stand up. This is the treatment given to our Brothers and Sisters. Subhanallah.

Allah subhanna wa ta'ala says about those who put the Muslims under torture:

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱلۡحَرِيقِ٠

Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allâh), then they will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire. (10)

It is about time the Muslim Ummah woke up. We need to unite and speak out. We need to help our Brothers and Sisters in Islam and the Mujahideen. The Muslim Ummah is under attack physically and mentally and we need to stand up and defend ourselves and our Brothers and Sisters.
It is obligatory upon the Muslim Ummah to free the Muslim Prisoners.

Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said (Al-Fatawa 28/635): Freeing the prisoners is one of the greatest compulsory deeds and spending ransom money and other means towards that, is one of the greatest ways to come close to Allah.
And,
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy upon him) said; “It is obligatory upon the people to ransom the prisoners with all what they possess, and there is no difference in this (amongst the jurists), because the Prophet (SAWS) said “Secure the release of the captive!” [Al-Bukhari]

How can we live a life of comfort while our Brothers and Sisters are being tortured, killed and massacred?

How can we sleep in comfort at night while they live in cells where they can barely stand in and have the worst food to eat?

The least we could do is remember them in our daily prayers and to speak out against this oppression so that atleast not a day goes by that we don't remember them wherever they may be.

Allah subhanna wa ta'ala says in the Qur'an:

"To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to defend themselves), because they are wronged - and verily, Allah is Most Powerful to give them victory - (they are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right - (for no cause) except that they say, 'Our Lord is Allah'.... " 22:39-40

I'd like to end this post with what Shaykh Al-Islam said about being imprisoned and what Ali Al-Timimi repeats in his last Khutbah and subhanallah, it really touched me.

"What can my enemies do to me?

My Paradise is in my heart, it's with me wherever I go.
To imprison me is to provide me with seclusion,
To kill me is to make me a Martyr
and to send me into exile is to send me out in the Path of Allah."

- Ibn Taymiyyah rahimullah [Early Century Scholar]

May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala free the Muslims who are in the Prisons of the Taghout and the Kuffar.
May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala allow us to the see the Muslims hold the banner of Islam high.
May Allah Subhanna wa ta'ala give victory to the Mujahideen.
May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala help the Muslims who are suffering in all parts of the World.
May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala increase our Imaan and make us true believers.
Ameen.

“And certainly We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruit. But give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere; those who, when afflicted with a calamity, say: Indeed to Allâh we belong, and to Him shall we return. They are those for whom there are blessings and forgiveness from their Lord, and His Mercy. It is they who are the guided-ones.” [Surah al-Baqarah 2:155-157]
