Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,
In the recent years we've seen more and more of our Brothers and Sisters imprisoned and put in Jail. Majority of them were innocent and those who were accused - were accused wrongly.
What is sad is - among these People, even our Scholars and People of knowledge are imprisoned and the World stays silent, including the Muslim World. The reason this is disastarous especially for the Muslim Ummah because knowledge of the deen is of extreme importance. It is incumbent upon Muslims to seek ilm. If the spreading of ilm stops and decreases, ignorance will be widespread.
The disappearance of Islamic knowledge is considered one of the signs of the coming of day of judgment. Although there is still knowledge present now alhamdulilah, it is decreasing among the people.
"Allah will not retract this knowledge by a withdrawal, [suddenly] withdrawing it from people's hearts, but He will retract knowledge by retracting the scholars, until, when He has left no scholar, people will take ignorant leaders, who will be asked, and will pronounce verdicts without knowledge, thus going astray and leading others astray." [Bukhari, Muslim]
Alot of our Ummah is suffering, in place like Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Chechyna, Bosnia and in other parts of the World. Especially in prisons like Guantanamo - famous for it's horrendous and inhumane activities.
A lot of our Brothers and Sisters in the West who dare to speak out against the Kuffar are targetted and sadly enough, even in 'Muslim Countries' the governments who've bowed down and been pressurised by the West go ahead and imprison their own People for speaking out.
I was very depressed when i'd heard that Brother Ali Al-Timimi had been unjustly sentenced to life in prison. Althought i'd never been physically present in any of his conferences or lectures, i would listen to them online.
Here is his last speech before leaving for prison:
May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala free him from the prisons of the oppressors. Ameen.
May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala give him the highest level in Paradise. Ameen.
Shaykh Ali Al timimi is/was not the only one put in prison. Imam Anwar Al Awlaki and others too were put under prison. And we've all heard of the Seventeen innocent men convicted for 'alleged' terrorist plots.
And they had no fault except that they believed in Allâh, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! (8)

Allah subhanna wa ta'ala says about those who put the Muslims under torture:
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱلۡحَرِيقِ٠
Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allâh), then they will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire. (10)
It is about time the Muslim Ummah woke up. We need to unite and speak out. We need to help our Brothers and Sisters in Islam and the Mujahideen. The Muslim Ummah is under attack physically and mentally and we need to stand up and defend ourselves and our Brothers and Sisters. It is obligatory upon the Muslim Ummah to free the Muslim Prisoners.
Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said (Al-Fatawa 28/635): Freeing the prisoners is one of the greatest compulsory deeds and spending ransom money and other means towards that, is one of the greatest ways to come close to Allah.
Allah subhanna wa ta'ala says in the Qur'an:
I'd like to end this post with what Shaykh Al-Islam said about being imprisoned and what Ali Al-Timimi repeats in his last Khutbah and subhanallah, it really touched me.
"What can my enemies do to me?
My Paradise is in my heart, it's with me wherever I go.
To imprison me is to provide me with seclusion,
To kill me is to make me a Martyr
and to send me into exile is to send me out in the Path of Allah."

SubhanÁllah. great post sister. it is tre. we forget what our deen teaches us. we forget the plight that our brothers and sisters are in. the least we can do is atleast remember them in our daily duas. that Allah swt eases their sufferring andmakes them stronger and protecs them from the torture and evil of the kuffar. ameen

just on the one about marriage
from what ive listened to on lectures a women cant actually state in the marriage contract that the man cant or needs permission for a 2nd wife. its the haqq of the man. while it is mustahab for him to speak with her beforehand he doesnt actually need permission. this is what ive seen on lectures from abdur raheem green and khalid yasin etc. anyways allah knows. salam

jazakallah khair. Hmmm surprisingly enough someone else brought up the same point, but the thing is this is what i was taught when i was attending my Islamic Figh classes. Inshallah khair i'll ask someone about this. For example, here in Muslim Countries when you go to the court they ask you if you want anything stated in you marriage contract beforehand, and by anything, i mean anything. Thank you for letting me know though - i'll look into it.

Why do Muslims complain and grieve when Muslims are put into prison by non-Muslims, but when Muslims put Christians into prison (like the government of Sa'udi Arabia did to many British and Irish expatriate employees, torturing many of them on false pretenses), then it is ignored?
It always seems many Muslims (not all) have 2 different standards: one for the treatment of fellow Muslims, which is very high, and one for the treatment of everyone else, which is very low.
I'm not condoning the treatment of the Muslim prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, I am against it and wish their detainment would end.
However, why is so much time and space devoted to the treatment of "our Muslim Brothers and Sisters" when:
(1) Christians are being kidnapped, tortured, raped and killed in Indonesia, and churches are being set on fire, by Muslim extremists, almost daily;
(2) Black African Christians and Animists are being exterminated in a genocidal campaign by Muslim fundamentalist extremists in Darfur, Sudan.
If a person is Black and Christian, does that make them any less important than if they are tan-skinned and Muslim?

Kanwalful: lol, jazakallah khair. I would write but it wasn't that good before although i knew i had talent. After i took literature as a subject i improved a lot. But seriously, when i'm moved or i feel passionate about something i tend to surprise myself with the articles i put out. And i tend to read a lot. It help and improves vocab. Thank you, VM. I was just wondering because although I respect Muslims, I think they should have the same respect for all persons EQUALLY. It is wrong to single out a particular group of people, and say, "They are detaining or torturing our Muslim Brothers and Sisters". Can people not see that is tantamount to elevating Muslims above all other faiths?
Christianity preaches all people are equal (I realize that the leaders of the USA don't always practice that, and that they often hurt Muslims). But, here is an example of how to treat people equally:
If a terrorist said to me, "I have two hostages -- one is a Christian and one is a Muslim", and said that if I pay him 1 million dollars, he will release only one of the hostages, and it is up to me to choose the one to be released, I would tell him, "Release the Muslim. Do not harm the Christian."
This is something like what Christianity and what Jesus Christ REALLY preached. I would ask him to release the Muslim, because I know that the Christian would be safe, praying to Christ.
And yes, we Christians do pray to Jesus Christ. We regard him not just as a mere prophet, but the manifestation of God on Earth. He is the Son of the living God, therefore he is divine just like God.
This has nothing to do with equating others with God, because he IS God. He is God, made flesh.

Okay, we'll start from the beginning and from your first comment.

The Muslims are like brothers and Sisters. Nothing unites us but Islam. It makes us one. We are like one body, if one of us hurt, the other grieves. My loyalty and love lie with Muslims. We are one body. Will you not grieve if your loved one or your brother or sister are either tortured, killed or imprisoned?
Especially these days when Islamophobia is high and the number of innocent Muslims that are being targetted all over the world is numerous. The media is biased and portrays Muslims as 'terrorists'. Many of our important scholars are put in jail for no reason. And a lot are killed and tortured. Including in current day Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan.
As for the treatment of other Non-Muslims, if they are innocent you will find the sypmathy of Muslims too for them.
If anyone that is innocent is killed, regardless of what religion they are, you will find that Muslims will condemn that too.
Why I concentrate and write more on Muslim prisoners is because 1) this is an Islamic blog 2) I am a Muslim 3) My duty lies with them first 4) they are like my brothers and sisters
You bring up the topic of Christians beings killed in indonesia and Darfur. But you see, that is one side of the story. It is not as if Muslim arn't killed too. Again, i will condemn the killing of innocent non-muslims [those who are civilians and not in combat]. But i could say the same thing, Muslims are being massacred in Aghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Chechyna, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay and other places in the past. Why shouldn't i concentrate on them?
As for your question, If a person is Black and Christian, does that make them any less important than if they are tan-skinned and Muslim?
If you do a little research on Islam, you will realise that Islam does not differentiate on the basis on colour. No being in the eyes of god is superior on the basis of their colour. A black has no superiority over a white person and vice versa, except through good deeds.
And not all Muslims are 'tan skinned'. You will find Muslims all over the world, white, black and brown. Alhamdulilah [All praise is to god]. Islam surpasses all cultural and racial factors.
Tell me this, how does Christianity view Muslims and other People who are not of the christian faith? Do they not believe that salvation and attainment of paradise is only through believing that Jesus Christ is God? [Naodhobillah].
In Islam, you are not allowed to kill innocent people, regardless of their religion. It is said in Islam 'whoever kills a man, it is as if he has killed the whole of mankind'. The only people who are fair game are those in combat with the Muslims.
And Allah subhanna wa ta'ala knows best.
As for your second comment:
We as Muslims do respect others equally. But your wrong if you believe that Muslims get the same respect from others. Just look around you, Muslims are being attacked simply because they are Muslim. I know a lot of cases of where Women who veil or Men who have beards and it is apparent they are Muslim are attacked. Simple for following Islam. Are the not detaining our Muslim Brothers and Sisters? You live in an idealistic world if you cannot see what is happening around you. W
When we say that 'they are torturing our muslim brothers and sisters' we are not elevating them, we are just pointing out facts.
As for your beliefs in Jesus Christ [Peace be upon him] we differ greatly, and i respect you and your beliefs but i ask you not impose them.
How can God have a Son? Jesus Christ was a Prophet, not God. You believe in the trinity... How can God be made three? Why would God suffer so much pain? God is way higher and superior then all of that.
