Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,

The Prophet Muhammad SAWs said:

"The dua of a Muslim for his brother/Sister (in Islam) in his absence is readily accepted. An angel is appointed to his side. Whenever he makes a beneficial dua for his brother the appointed angel says, 'Aameen. And may you also be blessed with the same.'" [Sahih Muslim]
I came across this beautiful dua [supplication] by Muhammad Al Luhaidan for Gaza and it brought tears to my eyes.

Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,

This is just a small reminder to fast tomorrow, the 10th of Muharram insha'Allah.

The fast of the day of 'Aashooraa. (tenth day of Muharram) is recommended, as its excellence has been mentioned in (a number of) ahaadeeth. From them, is the saying of the Prophet (saws): "Certainly the fast of the day of 'Aashooraa. is regarded by Allaah as an expiation for the sins of the previous year".
One of the reasons why Muslims fast this day is because this is the day Moses [Musa] Alayshisalam was victorious over Pharoah.

Also, when the Prophet (saws) arrived in Madeenah he saw the Jews fasting (on this day), so when he asked them (about this), they said: "Certainly, this is the day when Allaah made Moosaa victorious and destroyed Fir'own". So the Prophet (saws) said: We have more of a right to Moosaa than you". So he fasted (that day) and ordered it to be fasted.

It is a Sunnah - and recommended to fast a day with it. Either a day before [The 9th] or the day after [The 11th].

As for the ninth, then it has not been confirmed that the Prophet (saws) fasted it, however, it has been narrated by Ibn 'Abbaass and others that the explanation (tafseer) of the day of 'Aashooraa. is that it is the ninth. And it has been narrated that he (saws) said: "If I am (still) here next year, then certainly I will fast the ninth (day of Muharram)" and in (another) narration: "along with the tenth (day of Muharram)". And he (saws) said: "Differ from the Jews; fast the day before it (the ninth) or the day after it (the eleventh)".

Don't forget to make a lot of Dua for Gaza if you are fasting inshaAllah. For the dua [supplication] of the fasting person is never rejected by Allah.

PS - The reason why my commenting system was not working before because I was trying the option of 'Comment form embed' in blogger - and I forgot to switch it off. Apparently, it doesn't appear on my blog.

Assalam Alaykum,

I'm sure most of us have forgotten what took place in Iraq sometime back by the 'honourable' American soliders. May Allah subhanna wa taála punish them in this life and the next and free the oppressed from the oppressors. Ameen.

I covered it at my blog when it happened - it has been brought back to light again by the Media. One of the Solider got 100 years for Rape and Murder of the 13 or 14 year old child but there is a twist. He is eligible for parole in 10 years. I don't doubt that he'll be released sooner.

Excerpt from the article:

Sergeant Cortez said this week that a former private, Steven D. Green, raped the girl in front of him, shot her father, mother and sister, and then shot the girl in the head.

Barker and Green had already known what, um, house they wanted to go to ... knew only one male was in the house, and knew it would be an easy target," Cortez said.Once at the house,

Green, the suspected ringleader, took the girl's mother, father and little sister into a bedroom, Cortez said, while he and Barker took the teenager, Abeer Qassim al-Janabi, to the living room."

She kept squirming and trying to keep her legs closed and saying stuff in Arabic,"

Cortez said."During the time me and Barker were raping Abeer, I heard five or six gunshots that came from the bedroom. After Barker was done, Green came out of the bedroom and said that he had killed them all, that all of them were dead," Cortez said.'

You can read the whole article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/23/us/23rape.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

How many more atrocities go on in Iraq and Afghanistan by the 'courageous' and 'brave' American Soliders and their Allies that we dón't hear of? Why is the World silent?

Abeer was a child. A daughter. A Sister. And she was put through the brutality of rape. How many more young Iraqi, Afghani an Palestinian children have to suffer? How many more of our Brothers and Sisters have to be tortured and killed?

The death toll for Iraq could be in hundreds of thousands. I do not know how President Bush, with the blood of hundreds of thousands of people on his hands and the ones currently still suffering could sleep peacefully at night. May Allah subhanna wa taála never give him peace. Ameen.

This emotional dua by Sheikh Al Mohaisany is beautiful and relevant:

Ameen ya rabbal Alamin.
