Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,
I think about death sometimes, and its a really check for me personally, in terms of my actions and deeds. Whenever I'm falling 'off' the path, i just need to remind myself of death. It says in the Qur'an, 'Every soul shall taste death'. Every soul, every breathing thing, will one day finally end. There is no cure to death and no coming back. It will come to the youngest, the oldest, the rich andthe poor. No mansion or palaces or guards will save you from it.
To me, death is the only certainty in this uncertain life. Ironic, isn't it? That the only certainty one has, is the end. Everything else is unpredictable - unknown. Your next breath, your next second and your next action is unknown. When I was studying Literature they would make us repeatedly discuss subjects like death, life, greed, lust, balance, vice, etc. And an oft repeated theme about death was that it was the only one thing that was certain. Sometimes characters would depend on it as a relief from the pain they would in this World, while at other times they were so sick of mundane rituals that they called 'life', a life without purpose, that they longed to just end. If anyone is going through a depressive mood, pick up a play by Samuel Beckett!
I came across this video on Youtube by Aqimsalatak, and its a wakeup message to all those Muslims who are straying off the path, thinking they can waste away their youth for the dunya and become 'good Muslims' when they're older:
:(
Jazak'Allahkhairan to the people behind Aqimsalatak! MashaAllah, very powerful videos.
Masalama
PS: Don't forget to fast tomorrow, the day of Arafah! The day that will expiate sins of two years, inshaAllah.
'And in Death, there is certainty.'

NO MORE
No more will you knock at our door.
No more will you walk on our floor.
No more will you drink our tea.
No more will you see what we see.
No more will you hear what we hear.
No more will you fear a fear.
No more will you shed a tear.
No more will you enjoy our foods.
No more will you tread our roads.
No more will you roam our woods.
No more will you inquire after me.
No more will you smile at me.
No more will you call my name,
But all the same
And despite all the pain
You stood to gain
When you clearly said
Just days before you were dead:
أشهد أن لا إلاه إلا الله
و أشهد أن محمدا رسول الله
اللهم لك الحمد على ما أعطيت
اللهم لك الحمد على ما أعطيت
اللهم لك الحمد على ما أعطيت
You said it yourself, dad,
And we were all, all sad
For we feared time might be up, father,
And you wouldn’t go farther.
It’s hard, hard, hard
To bear to see you there
In the graveyard –
While we are here,
Where we can’t hear
Your voice or see your smile.
But it’s only a while
And we shall all be there!
I know your bones may decay
I know the worms may eat your flesh away,
But your soul will remain whole
And one day you will revive
And stay alive
For ever and ever.
And I know also
That we shall all go:
No money will keep us for ever.
No medecines will keep us for ever.
No doctor will live for ever.
Praise to Allah Who never dies!
Praise to Allah Who made Paradise!
اللهم ارحم أبي و أسكنه فسيح جناتك
اللهم اجعلنا خير خلف لخير سلف
"إنا لله و إنا إليه راجعون"
Thanks for the video message. Simple, yet powerful. We all need regular doses of these.
wow that video by AqimSalatak is amazing.. they obviously spent a lot of time and effort as well as money to prepare this.. and the message is loud and clear!
elhamdilla i always do my prayers since i was 15 or so.. but i do not always do them on time.. inshalla this is a good reminder to do that.. we are not perfect and always need to improve ourselves.
jazaki allah kheir
Yep, I really like their work. And I was thinking of all the ajar they must be getting by the videos they've done.
Btw, Youtube for you is working?? How?
I too try to do most of them on time, and alhamdulila i do, but yes, sometimes even I miss some of mine when it comes to doing them at the prescribed hour and I have to make them up later. But it really scared me when I do...
