Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi Wabarakath,
As Muslims giving charity is a very necessary part of our faith, not to mention obligatory. It is repeated again and again in the Qurán and Sunnah to give to the poor and needy, to help those who are in need. In Ramadan, we find that the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam was more generous then his usual generous self.
But giving in charity isn't just a 'Muslim' thing, it is and it should be a human thing that should concern all people from all religions. There are those out those who suffer who we should just give for the sake of helping a brother or sister in humanity; out of love and kindness.
A lot of people say that it is hard to find needy people in Dubai, to a certain extent that may be true, but it is not THE truth. There are poor and needy people in the U.A.E, they might not be so obvious but they exist. And not to mention, we need to look no further then construction sites to find those who are needy.
This Ramadan, make a difference. Start to give, even if it maybe a dirham and continue this good deed outside of Ramadan. Give to those who appreciate every moutful they get. Those who work in the hot summer heat without feeling the cool air of the AC. Give to those who live from paycheck to paycheck. Those who struggle to just merely exist.

Abu Hurayrah reported that the prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam said, 'When a person dies, his actions come to an end except in respect to three things that he leaves behind: a continuous charity, beneficial knowledge that helps others, and righteous children who pray for him.'
Give... for the sake of Your Lord...

By no means shall you attain Al-Birr (piety, righteousness), unless you spend (in Allâh's Cause) of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allâh knows it well. (3:92)

Assalamualaikum sister
A good reminder for all of us especially in this blessed month of Ramadhan.
I agreed that giving in charity isn't just a 'Muslim' thing, it is and it should be a human thing. Alhamdulillah we are blessed with good reward from Allah by giving charity.
I was touched by how human non-Muslims can be because I get help from them here in Perth to fund my daughter's special need equipments.
But from my experiences Muslims are the most generous if only they know how and when to reach the poor and needy especially if we live in a wealthy country like Dubai and Australia.
As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest sister,
Jazaki'Allahu khair for the link, and wonderful post :D
Wa'alaykum as-salaam
Love Farhana
Lightnur: Wa Alaykumsalam, Alhamdulilah. May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala give your daughter sabr and shifa. Ameen. I hope inshaAllah things get better with her and you. :) I think there are generous people everywhere, alhamdulilah, we come across them at the most unexpected places/times.
