They say being alone is more dangerous with your nafs than being with people in the open. With people, you are easily able to control your actions and keep yourself from sinning but when you are alone, with only your nafs present and nobody to keep you in heel - that is the real test.
That is the time Satan tries his level best to get to you, to whisper in your heart and mind, making the bad seem so beautiful. That is the time when your Imaan is tested - if you believe and worship in Allah as if you see because although you see him not - he sees you.
I've realised & experienced that the more closer you try and become to Allah and come into the deen, the harder Shaytan tries to tempt you away from the straight path. And the only protection which you may attain is only through asking Allah and trying harder to come closer to him.
But sometimes people slip - we are all humans. When this happens, one should never give up hope, for the doors of mercy of Allah are open for those who sincerely repent.
O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islâm (by obeying all the rules and
regulations of the Islâmic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitân
(Satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy. (208)

I rather find solitude to be a step to get closer to God rather than interacting with people. I guess everyone has their own interpretation.
Oh definitely. I do too. :) Sitting in solitude for the remembrance of Allah is a sunnah and also recommended.
The above was/is an exception and something I had observed that happens sometimes.
Whoever lacks amiability with people and finds it in seclusion, verily he is a truthful but feeble character and whoever finds it with people and lacks it in seclusion, and surely he is an ailing one.
Whoever lacks it both with people and seclusion; surely, his character is dead.
And whoever finds it both in seclusion and with people, surely he is an affectionate, truthful and strong character.
He, who finds delight in seclusion, cannot have more delight except with seclusion, and he, who finds delight with people by advising and guiding them, cannot have more delight except in their company.
Finally, whoever finds delight with whatever Allah has willed for him, more delight will be granted to him both in seclusion and in the company of people.
Thus, the most honorable condition is to submit to the will of Allah. The same light exists in the pure hearts that is found in nature, as it brightens from the laws of Allah.
Allah, the Exalted, says, “whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself), though no fire touched it.” (An-Nur, 24:35)

By the way, how come you don't reply to my comments? Blus, why have you taken me off your blog list? :S
Once again, a very inspiring subject. Keep the effort going, I like reading it.
Umm blog: JazakiAllahu khairan for beautiful quoted passage. :)
Aww I do reply to your comments! Sincere apologies if I haven't, honestly it wasn't done purposely. :)
Oh if you'd noticed I have a habit of changing my templte quite often and with blogger when you do that all the widgets youve added go automatically. So I have to go through the painstaking task of re-adding everyone on my blog list. :(
Hajar: Thank-you. :-)
Really? You're sorry? Okay, chalo theek hai. We're friends again.
I really liked your post.
I think its about finding a balance between being alone in seclusion and being with other people and interacting in society.
I once heard someone use the term to "boycott our nafs". I find that striving to "boycott" our nafs, whether alone or with people is always the best method :)
@ ummblog: those points really got me pondering. I'll think about them.
