Assalam Alaykum warahmutallahi wabarakath

Someone sent me a forward of this recently. A group of Women from the Jamia Hafsah Madrassah in Pakistan, a religious institute, took things into their own hands and shut a brothel down. Mash'Allah. And the Women even took Policemen as prisoners, who were actually defending the brothel. These are sad times, when the Police of a Muslim Country turn a blind eye on the Prostitution that happens and brothels that are run. And this is rampant in all Muslim Countries.

May Allah subhanna wa ta'ala bring up more Women like this and reward them for doing Amr bil Ma'ruf and Nahia 'anil Munkar. [Enjoining good and forbidding evil]. Ameen.

Allah subhanna wa ta'ala says in the Qur'an:

وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى الْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islâm), enjoining Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islâm has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful. (104)

Al-'Imraan

You don't see a lot of people doing it these days, and at a halaqa we were recently discussing the Major and Minor signs that will come before the day of Judgement - and one of the signs were that people would stop practicing Amr bil Ma'ruf and Nahia 'anil Munkar.

Hudhaifah (May Allah bepleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, you either enjoin good and forbid evil, or Allah will certainly soon send His punishment to you. Then you will make supplication and it will not be accepted".[At-Tirmidhi].

Anas ibn Malik said, The Prophet was asked, "O Messenger of Allâh, (what will happen) when we stop enjoining good and forbidding evil?" He said, "When what happened to the Israelites happens among you: when fornication becomes widespread among your leaders, knowledge is in the hands of the lowest of you, and power passes into the hands of the least of you." (Ibn Majah.)

I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say, ‘If the people see an evildoer and do not take him by the hand [to put a stop to his evil], soon Allaah will punish all of them.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4338; al-Tirmidhi, 2168; and al-Nasaa’i – with a saheeh isnaad. Also classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, no. 2448.

Awesome! To see sisters willing to stand up for the good and remove evil is a rarity in our times. I pray that Allah sheds his mercy upon the sisters and grants them all abodes of righteousness. Amin! Wonderful article!

As salaam alaikum.

Subhan'Allah! You have made my day with this story.

Sometimes the news makes me depressed -- this is the sort that should be shouted from the rooftops.

Jazakallahu khairn.

Assalamu `aliakum sister,

The following blog entry refers to the incident you have mentioned.

http://blog.sunnipath.com/?p=53

I won't repeat whats mentioned therein; however, I would say as much that Amr bil Ma`ruf wa Nahi Annil Munkar does not translate to taking the law into one's hands.

Wallahu Ta`aala `alam.

wa `alaykum as-Salaam

amr bil ma`ruf is an obligation and if no one else is going to stop this filth then who in the heck will? do we think amr bil ma`ruf stops at the heart and the tongue?

Even though I respect SunniPath, I don't see any proof within this article to prove that what was done was wrong.

assalam alaykum

i have to agree with umm layth on this. We've been too silent for too long. For this story, we have to look at it from all aspects. This brothel was being run for a long time and it's not only in this city, brothels are run sadly in all Muslim Countries and the government/police turns a blind eye. If we don't step up and take action who will? Corruption is rampant among Muslim Countries because sadly enough, our leaders are too involved in this dunya.

And these Women havent carried out hudood punishments, they've just captured the owner and so on.

Allah subhanna wa ta'ala knows best.

These brothels are rampant in Pakistan and India and most probably in other Muslim countries, but nothing gets done about them.

At least these women decided enough was enough and took some action.

And they were better for it!

Its really sad how people in Pakistan are reacting to the women of Hafsa Madressah. Where it pleases me to see how much you guys are supporting them, even religious parties in Pakistan have abandoned Hafsa Madressah. It seems like it will only take a few years before Pakistan officially becomes a secular State.

Kanwalful said...

Additionally this act of Hafsa Madressah has been labelled as kidnapping and a disgrace to the name of Islam which is totally wrong. IT is Prostitution that tarnishes the name of Islam and the sanctity of an Islamic Country.

Sumera: I agree.

Kanwalful: Assalam Alaykum, it defenitely is sad. I think it's lack of islamic education and the whole concept of being 'progressive'?

Allahu Alam.

Welcome to my blog though.
